Best Trekking and Hiking Gear for Men in India

Are you looking for best trekking and hiking gear for men in India?

If Yes, you are in the right place.

I have been trekking, hiking and been an adventurer since the year 2012.

My love for hiking started when I carried a “20 liter water can” on my back to the top of a hill in Sikkim.

I was at IHCAE Mountaineering institute in Chemcey of Sikkim for a 3 day training and leadership camp called RYLA under Rotary International.

Not only did I overcame my fear of height, I also did rock-climbing and rappelling from high natural rock walls for the first time.

In 2016, I went for my first high altitude trek to the highest peak in Nagaland – Mount Saramati (3841m).

Honestly, I was unprepared. Neither did I carry the right rucksack (backpack) nor did I wore the right clothes.

In the mountains, we must carry less, and pack only what we need.

“What to pack or What do we need?”- is the million dollar confusing question.

We often carry heavier clothes and unnecessary hiking gears while climbing a mountain.

As a result, it becomes harder to ascend on a trek.

In 2017, I trekked to Sandakphu (3636m) at the India-Nepal Border – another high altitude trek.

Alas! I made the same mistakes. Wrong clothes! I got the rucksack right this time.

The year 2019 was full of adventurous trips and treks. It started with the Dzukou Valley Trek in Nagaland.

This time I bought a light weight jacket and a trek pant, trekking shoes and a rain poncho from Decathlon.

I then went for the Monpa Trail Trek (2960m) in Arunachal Pradesh, caving in Krem Mawmluh in Meghalaya, Rock Climbing in Assam, and more in 2019 and 2020.

It was the Basic Mountaineering Course in NIMAS Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh in 2022 that taught me a lot about carrying the right trekking gears.

The course involved 28-days of consistent training – running, hiking, rock-climbing, artificial wall climbing, camping at different altitudes and ice-wall climbing at 5017m (16,460 ft) of the Mount Gorichen glacier.

Travel essentials, hiking and trekking gears can save our day in the worst of our situations.
